Current Inogen technical documentation establishes model IO-401, the three battery configurations, weights, dimensions, pulse settings, oxygen concentration, charging specifications, power requirements and environmental operating range. Inogen, Inc

Lightweight 4-Setting Portable Oxygen

At 2.9 lb with the standard battery, the Rove 4 is designed for users who prioritize a small, lightweight portable oxygen system.

The compact design makes it suitable for carrying with its compatible carry bag or other Inogen carrying accessories rather than relying on a wheeled cart.

Despite its small size, the Rove 4 provides four pulse-dose settings with maximum oxygen output up to 840 mL/min. Inogen, Inc

Pulse-Dose Settings 1–4

The Rove 4 uses Inogen's Intelligent Delivery Technology® to detect the beginning of inhalation and deliver a pulse of oxygen.

Available settings are:

1 • 2 • 3 • 4

These numbers are pulse-dose settings, not liters per minute of continuous flow.

The Rove 4 does not provide continuous-flow oxygen. Oxygen settings should always be used according to the patient's prescription.

Three Battery Options

One advantage of the Rove 4 platform is the ability to choose among three compatible battery configurations.

Battery System Weight System Height Recharge Time
BA-400 Standard 2.9 lb 7.5" Up to 3.5 hr
BA-404 Intermediate 3.1 lb 7.8" Up to 3 hr
BA-408 Extended 3.4 lb 8.1" Up to 4 hr

The standard battery keeps the concentrator as light and compact as possible, while the extended battery increases operating time.

Inogen currently specifies up to 3 hours 12 minutes with the standard battery and up to 6 hours 7 minutes with the extended battery at setting 1. Actual runtime varies with setting, breathing rate, battery age and operating conditions. Inogen, Inc

Quiet Operation

The Rove 4 operates at approximately 39 dBA at setting 2, helping keep the system unobtrusive during everyday activities.

That is slightly quieter on the published specification than the approximately 40 dBA rating associated with the older G4.

AC, DC & Battery Power

The Rove 4 can operate using:

  • Rechargeable battery power
  • AC household power
  • Compatible DC vehicle power

The AC power supply supports 100–240 VAC, 50–60 Hz, allowing worldwide electrical input compatibility when used with the appropriate plug configuration.

Inogen Connect

The Rove 4 is compatible with the Inogen Connect Bluetooth mobile app.

Compatible connectivity features allow users to access device information and notifications from a supported mobile device.

Air Travel

The Inogen Rove 4 meets applicable FAA acceptance criteria for carriage and use aboard aircraft based on technical performance testing.

Airline procedures and battery requirements can vary, so travelers should confirm requirements with their airline before departure. Inogen, Inc

Warranty

The current Inogen Rove 4 user manual states a 3-year device warranty, subject to the warranty terms provided with the product.

The columns, rechargeable batteries, carry bag and power accessories carry a 1-year warranty under the current standard warranty statement. Other optional warranty periods may be available depending on the purchased configuration. Inogen, Inc

What's Included

Inogen's current direct Rove 4 package identifies:

  • Inogen Rove 4 Portable Oxygen Concentrator
  • Rechargeable Rove 4 battery
  • AC power supply
  • Carry bag
  • User documentation

Additional batteries, external battery charger, backpack and other compatible accessories may be available separately.

Exact package contents should be confirmed for the specific configuration sold by State Medical Equipment.

Rove 4 vs. Older Inogen One G4

The Rove 4 should not be treated as simply a renamed G4.

The newer Rove 4 provides:

Rove 4 Older G4
Pulse Settings 1–4 1–3
Standard-Battery Weight 2.9 lb 2.8 lb
Noise at Setting 2 39 dBA ~40 dBA
Max Oxygen Output Up to 840 mL/min Lower-output 3-setting platform
Current Product Position Current Rove platform Legacy G4 platform

This is why an older G4 product listing should not simply have its product name changed to Rove 4—the underlying specifications need to be updated as well. Inogen's current provider materials specifically maintain current Rove 4 manuals dated February 2026. Inogen, Inc
